High School Sports: Weather Claims Victory Under the Lights

Lightning stops girls soccer game at South Carroll High School.

Mother Nature was once again the winner Wednesday night at South Carroll High School. 

The Cavaliers were playing host to Century in girls soccer. South Carroll athletic director Jim Horn did everything he could to get the game in.

The halftime of the junior varsity game was shortened, the varsity game started early and still the game was stopped with 11 minutes left in the first half due to the approaching cold front.

When the game was stopped, neither team had scored.

There was lightening from the West when the fans and players were asked to leave Parker Field. When the game was called, the stadium was surrounded by lightning. Cars lined up to leave about one hour after the game had started.
