The Lions won on the diamond and the court on Wednesday.

"She has been getting stronger as the games go on it seems like. Today was probably her best game overall," Liberty coach Chris Szocik said about Thompson.

Senior Alyssa Dixon started on the mound for the Knights and pitched five innings. She struck out six and walked two. She allowed four hits. Shannon Stevens pitched the final two innings for Knights.

"It was a tight game for the first four innings. We had to scratch a couple of runs. Not sure why they made a pitching change. Once they did we started hitting a little more. We weren’t hitting the first one," said Szocik.

All four Lion teams are 5-0 in the county and 7-0 overall. Century softball is 1-2 in the county and 2-4 overall, while baseball is 2-3 in the county and 3-4 overall. The Knight boys and girls tennis teams are both 3-2 in the county and 4-2 overall.

"Story of our year so far," Century coach Jay Seaborg said about not getting runners in. "We just cannot hit with men on base. It’s as simple as that. We get people on. The game got away a little bit at the end. It was a two-run game for most of the game."

"That’s the third game in a week, where we played a team tight and just can’t hit with men in scoring position and we can’t take third strikes. We have to be more aggressive. I would rather see them swing at a pitch out of the strike zone then take pitches down the middle," Seaborg added.
