Local Lacrosse Player Competes in NCAA Title Game

The former McDonough player is a co-captain for the Fighting Irish this season.

Texas A&M ended Notre Dame and Sykesville’s Brittany Mallory quest for the NCAA girls basketball title hopes Tuesday evening, 76-70.

Mallory had four points in the loss, including a three-pointer. The Fighting Irish had downed Tennessee and Connecticut enroute to the title game.

The 5-10 senior went to high school at McDonogh in Owings Mill.

Mallory is a co-captain for the Fighting Irish this season. She has helped lead the Irish to the final game with her defense and offensive play. She averaged 7.1 points per game, while leading the team in three-point shooting. She has made 44 of 108 attempts from beyond the arc.

She tossed in eight points in the defeat of number one ranked Connecticut, including one three-pointer.

She is the daughter of Wendy and Bob Mallory. Mallory is enrolled in Mendoza College of Business where she is a management-entrepreneurship major .

Mallory has had to come back from a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her sophomore year. She played in all the Irish game her junior and senior years.

She was a three-time all-state selection (2005, 2006, 2007) while in high school. She also excelled in lacrosse while McDonogh. Mallory was a standout prep lacrosse midfielder and was a two-time honorable mention All-America (U.S. Lacrosse).
