Ravens Honor North Carroll Football Coach

Matt Martello has North Carroll at 2-0 after a 1-10 season last year.

The Baltimore Ravens named North Carroll football coach Matt Martello the Ravens High School Coach of the Week.

Martello received the award for a fourth quarter comeback victory in Week 2, when North Carroll battled from 10 points down to topple Williamsport, 40-38.

The Panthers take a 2-0 mark into Smithsburg this Friday.

North Carroll, led by running back Sean Floto's 192 rushing yards and two touchdowns in last week's win, surpassed last year's win total (1-10) and equalled the 2011 mark (2-8), according to the Ravens news release.

“Our relentless defense and execution on offense has been the key to our great start,” Martello said. “The kids are excited when they come to practice every day and that shows up in the level of their play.”

This is Martello's first time winning the award.

For winning, Martello will receive a $2,000 donation to the football program, a certificate signed by Ravens coach John Harbaugh and a Coach of the Week hat.

The Ravens Coach of the Week award is in its 17th season of honoring high school football coaches. All winners will be welcomed to the Ravens game against the Vikings on Dec. 8, when the Coach of the Year will be named.
