The South Carroll Lioness Lions Club Make a Difference Day Project

Make A Difference Day is celebrated each year on the 4th Saturday in October.  Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, it is the nation’s largest day of volunteering and the South Carroll Lioness Lions Club is participating in this year’s 20th annual National Make a Difference Day on Saturday, October 27th, 2012.

The South Carroll Lioness Lions Club is collecting gently used cookbooks and novels (non-fiction and fiction) to give to charities.  The cookbooks will be donated to Carroll County’s Caring Carroll organization (http://caringcarroll.org/Welcome.html) to be used for fundraising activities that they host.  The other books will be donated to the White Rabbit Thrift store at 200 Memorial Ave, Westminster, MD 21157, which is staffed by Carroll County Hospital volunteers.

To date, the South Carroll Lioness Lions Club has collected over 140 books.  On Saturday, October 27th, between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., club members will be located in the Wendy’s parking lot at the Carrolltown Mall in Eldersburg to collect books from the community.  The goal is to collect over 600 books to donate to these two charities.

So, dust off your bookshelves and bring your books down to Wendy’s on October 27th.  No books will be refused.  If they fall into other categories they will be donated to an appropriate location.
