Carrolltowne Elementary School, which opened in 1976, is one of 23 elementary schools in the Carroll County Public School System. The 76,000-square-foot building includes a suite for each grade level as well as four designated kindergarten classrooms. It also has a gym, cafeteria, media center, music and art rooms along with resource service areas for children with disabilities. Carrolltowne offers a full-day kindergarten program as well as a regional special education program and courses in "authentic, real life problem solving." Additional activities offered at the school include the Fourth and Fifth Grade Chorus, the Just Say No Club, Book Buddies and Yearbook.
