The Friendship School was founded in 1998 and is located off of Progress Way in Sykesville. The school was established to meet the educational needs of children with dyslexia and other language based learning differences. Friendship has programs for children in grades 1 through 8 from Carroll, Howard, Frederick, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Prince George's and Montgomery counties. 

The school provides a comprehensive curriculum including daily one-on-one tutoring as well as lessons in art, music, drama, physical education and computer literacy. Enrollment at Friendship is not to exceed 100 students in order to "ensure a nurturing social and academic environment."
