Formula Vs Breastfeeding Debate in Carroll County

Last week, we reported that the Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster was mulling doing away with infant formula samples in free gift bags for new mothers being discharged. Carroll Hospital Mulls Eliminating Infant Formula Gift Bags

The Carroll Hospital Center in Westminster is in the “preliminary stages” of examining whether to stop giving gift bags containing infant formula samples to new mothers upon discharge from the hospital. In an interview this month, Linda Grogan, executive director of Women’s and Children’s Services at the hospital, said the hospital will probably develop a gift bag of its own with “something in the bag other than formula—maybe nursing pads and books about breastfeeding.” Do you think hospitals should give gift bags with infant formula samples to new mothers?
