Man Who Was Held in Disappearance of South Carroll Grad Sues for Insurance Money

Robyn Gardner, 35, was last seen traveling in Aruba with Gary Giordano in 2011, and now he wants $3.5 million in insurance money.

The man held and released in the disappearance of Robyn Gardner, a graduate of South Carroll High School who went missing in Aruba last summer, has sued to collect $3.5 million from Gardiner's travel insurance policy, according to the Huffington Post. The Huffington Post reports that Gary Giordano, Gardner's taveling companion in Aruba, contends in a  lawsuit that AMEX Assurance Company is required to pay $3.5 million under the terms of a policy purchased before Gardner went missing on Aug. 2.  The lawsuit was filed Thursday in Cook County, IL, where AMEX Assurance is based. Gardner, who lived in Frederick, took out a policy on July 27 that allowed for up to $3.5 million in claims of accidental death or dismemberment, according to the …

Suspect in Case of Missing South Carroll Graduate Released From Aruba Prison

Gary Giordano, the man she was traveling with arrived in the United States Wednesday.

The sole suspect in the case of missing South Carroll High School graduate Robyn Gardner arrived back in the United States Wednesday after being released from an Aruban jail, according to an article by CBS News. Gary Giordano, 50, a businessman from Gaithersburg, Md. spent almost four months in jail after Gardner, 35, went missing on Aug. 2, according to the article. He arrived via American Airlines in Miami, Fla. Wednesday afternoon and released from an Aruban jail Tuesday after a judge ruled authorities lacked enough evidence hold him any longer, according to the article. Report: Insurance Policy Thickens Plot in Case of Missing South Carroll Graduate

The man she was traveling with took out an $1.5 million accidental insurance policy on Gardner, according to numerous reports.

A discovery in the case of Robyn Gardner, 35, a graduate of South Carroll High School missing in Aruba, has caused investigators to keep the man she was traveling with in custody, according to an article by ABC News.  Investigators recently discovered a $1.5 million accidental death insurance policy taken out by Gary Giordano, the man Gardner was traveling with, and are considering the new finding as a possible motive, according to the report.   According to a report by the Associated Press, it is unclear at this time whether Giordano was listed as the beneficiary.  Giordano is currently being held in Aruba and is the only suspect in the case so far, according to ABC News.  On Monday, a judge in Aruba stated there was enough evidence to …
