Daytrip: Ellicott City Shopping Guide

Whether you live here or you're just visiting, here's a look at some of what Ellicott City has to offer

If you’re looking for unique gifts, unique dining experiences, or you are just trying to get into the holiday spirit, try Ellicott City.  As the holiday shopping season gets going, Patch decided to put together a guide to local shops to help you make the most of your time here. Parking in the Historic District is free through Jan. 1, and if you don’t know where to find parking, try using Parker – a smartphone app that will let you know where the available spaces are. There are also several parking lots in the Historic District, find them on the attached map.  Is there a local business you think shoppers should try for the holidays? Expand our guide by telling us about it in the comments section below. Looking for toys? Mumbles and Squeaks…

Main Street Kicks off Holiday Season on Small Business Saturday

Westminster will kick off the holidays, and promote shopping at small businesses, on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Black Friday no longer stands alone when it comes to post-Thanksgiving Day shopping blitzes. Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday have become popular shopping days and Westminster is gearing up for a huge downtown holiday celebration on Small Business Saturday, or Nov. 24. Last year, American Express estimated that 103 million Americans shopped at a small business on Small Business Saturday. Main Street businesses in Westminster will be bustling on Nov. 24 after stores open at 10 a.m. Plan your shopping day around these festive holiday events also taking place on Main Street Nov. 24: Visit www.westminstermd.gov for more information. Will you enjoy downtown Westminster on Small Business Saturday Nov. 24? Tell us in comments.
