Police Identify Man Killed While Fleeing from Sheriff's Officer
A New Windsor man died Monday morning when his truck hit a van on Rt. 140, police said.
Police have identified the driver who died in a two-vehicle collision after fleeing from police as 29-year-old Jeremiah Joseph Haas of New Windsor. At approximately 6:25 a.m. Monday, Deputy 1st Class Brian Colussy was stopped on the southbound shoulder of Route 91 north of Cold Saturday Drive monitoring traffic when he saw a Dodge Ram 1500 truck approaching him northbound going 72 miles per hour in a 55 miles per hour zone, according to a police release. Colussy activated his lights and signaled the truck to stop, according to police reports. The truck accelerated and turned onto Old Gamber Road, police said.
