Kids can get personalized letters and videos from Santa this year.
Every year, millions of children sit down to make a wish list for Santa, hoping he will make all of their Christmas dreams come true. But what if Santa actually wrote back? The United States Postal Service is now accepting "Letters From Santa," a program that allows any person to play Santa by sending a letter signed by Saint Nick to any child. According to a postal service news release, "The 'Letters From Santa' program helps parents fulfill the dreams of their own children." The jolly one shared the duties with Mrs. Claus and the Grinch during the annual "Merry Main Street" celebration in Sykesville.
Santa Claus made a grand arrival on a fire truck in Sykesville Saturday evening to light the tree and kick-off the season. Santa was joined at the Town of Sykesville's "Merry Main Street" event by the Grinch in the afternoon and Mrs. Claus joined the jolly fellow to help light the tree. The Grinch met folks at the Sykesville Town House where there was gift wrapping for presents brought on Main Street, reindeer cupcakes, letters to Santa and music by String Echoes. The event was sponsored by the Sykesville Parks and Recreation. Also on Main Street was ice sculpting by Kevin’s Katering, the St. Paul’s UMC carolers, and a brass band.
