The National Weather Service says the worst weather conditions are expected late tonight through Monday morning.
The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a winter weather advisory until 6 p.m. Monday. The advisory, issued for Carroll County and Frederick County in Maryland and some areas of Virginia warns of two to four inches of snow, starting this evening and continuing through the day tomorrow. According to the advisory, "The heaviest snow is expected by the predawn hours Monday morning." Additionally, motorists should take caution as "roads will become snow-covered and slippery, especially across elevated surfaces such as bridges and overpasses," according to NWS. The bad news: expect a dreary week ahead with blustery winds, rain, sleet and snow, and not too much sun. The good news: we’ll get that out of the way in time, according to the National Weather Service (NWS), to have a good-looking weekend. The National Weather Service reports that Carroll County could see sleet and snow after 1 p.m.
You shouldn't be surprised to hear that we are expecting wintry weather as it seems that wintry weather on Friday has been a recurring theme in 2013. The National Weather Service predicts that there is a 60 percent chance of snow and sleet between noon and 3 p.m. with little or no ice or snow accumulation expected. Friday night freezing rain is likely before 3 a.m., then a chance of snow, freezing rain and sleet according to NWS. There is a 70 percent chance of precipitation and little to accumulation is expected. On Saturday, expect snow, freezing rain and sleet before 9 a.m., then rain. The high will be near 40 according to NWS.

Officials are warning that the storm Friday afternoon could cause complications.
This story was updated at 11:20 a.m. Friday Weather, highway and school officials are preparing for a fast-moving storm Friday afternoon that has already resulted in early dismissal times at Howard County and Carroll County Schools and could make for a potentially difficult commute. Howard County Public Schools will close 1.5 hours early Friday in anticipation of the storm and Carroll County schools will close two hours early. Baltimore, Anne Arundel and Montgomery schools are also among those that have announced earlier on Friday that they will close schools early Friday. Carroll County is awaiting its first significant snowfall of 2013.
Carroll County residents could be in for their first big snowfall of 2013 this weekend. Forecasts vary, but a storm projected to reach the Baltimore metro area on Friday could dump a few inches of powder just in time for the weekend. Weather.com forecasts about 1-to-3 inches of snow for the area, depending upon the forecast models. Weather.gov forecasts a 60 percent chance of snow on Friday with a 40 percent chance of accumulation Friday night. The projected high for Friday is 26 degrees, with a low of 17 degrees. There's also a 70 percent chance of snow Wednesday night into Thursday morning, according to Weather.gov.
