Mayor Mike Miller nominated for re-election.
The three nominees for mayor of Sykesville are all already familiar with the workings of the Town’s government. According to Town Clerk Janet Perrault, the nominees are Ian Shaw, current Sykesville Town Council member; Ivy Wells, the town’s Main Street Manager; and current mayor, Mike Miller. The nominees were made at Monday’s meeting of the mayor and Town Council. Six people also were nominated to fill the three Town Council seats that will be open during the May 7 general election. Nominated were Stacy Link, John Ellis, Joe Moltz, Debbie Ellis, Anna Carter and current Council member Leo Keenan. None of the prospective candidates have accepted their nominations yet, Perrault said; the deadline to do so is April 8.

AG the Council was not discussing a tax rate increase, rather the Mayor was proposing a possible tax rate DECREASE. But the Council did not bite and already has plans to spend the additional 80k from the state. more ›
