The 6th Annual PEEP Show is happening now at the Carroll Arts Center. The tasty art event, with 192 entries this year, will run through April 7. It's free to enter but funds raised through the purchase of voting chips, crafts and food will go to support Arts Council programs. The Carroll Arts Council is getting a good freshening up this week.
The Carroll Arts Center will be closed through Sunday, Jan. 13 for cleaning and cosmetic improvements. Arts Center Executive Director Sandy Oxx said that the improvements include a "major cleaning and reorganizing" among other projects that include: Oxx said that in the spring they will focus on exterior projects, including repairs from water damage, fixing the marquee, and adding an overhang to the loading dock. "Without a doubt--it's not sexy stuff, and a lot of it the public won't even notice it, but it is very important maintenance," Oxx said. The updates are being paid for with Arts Council reserve funds, a Self Help grant from County Recreation & Parks and a Facade Improvement Grant from the city of Westminster, according to Oxx. …

Get in the holiday spirit with Charlie Brown.
The Carroll County Arts Council will celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the iconic holiday film "A Charlie Brown Christmas" by pairing the film with a live Eric Byrd Trio performance of the unforgettable Vince Guaraldi Jazz score. This year’s performances of “A Charlie Brown Jazz Christmas” will be on Friday, Dec. 14 at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday Dec. 15 at 3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. After the commercial-free screening of the film on the big screen, the lively jazz score is performed live by the Eric Byrd Trio. The Eric Byrd Trio has performed throughout the world, at the White House, and they hold the prestigious honor of a Kennedy Center Jazz Ambassadorship according to an Arts Council news release. Get in on fun new twists added to this year's holiday festivities at the Carroll Arts Center.
This year's Annual Festival of Wreaths is set to begin earlier than usual to coincide with Westminster's holiday parade, tree lighting and Small Business Saturday. This year's Festival of Wreaths will begin Nov. 24 and run through Saturday, Dec. 1 at the Carroll Arts Center. The Festival traditionally features more than 220 uniquely decorated theme wreaths that range from wacky to whimsical and from elegant to eclectic. There is an amazing level of creativity, engineering and generosity exemplified in the diverse entries. Proceeds from the week-long silent auction benefit the Carroll County Arts Council.
